Every time a player receives an opportunity to play in College means the world to me. Nothing better than seeing a player realize their dream and be lucky enough to be a part of the moment. When a player calls, texts or messages about a great moment during a game they feel came from working hard during the lesson or when they give back and talk about what they learned to help younger players. When players come in and are excited for the lesson and disappointed when it ends! Grow the game, love the game and respect the game!

Coaching Highlights:

Back to Back State Playoff berth for Varsity High School program in the first two seasons as Head Coach. Team Ranked as 67th in the Country by extrainnings Softball Tier 1 Alliance bid Back to Back seasons for 16U Tier 1 Alliance Bid for 18U Tier 1 Alliance bid for 14U. Championship Sunday in Triple Crown Nationals 

Over 60 College committed players receiving instruction or coached at the Division 1, 2 and 3 Level. Over 60 players Nationally ranked by Extrainnings softball either trained and/or coached 

How do you approach the game?

Hard work. I will never be outworked, just don’t believe in it. I am a volunteer Head coach for the Mystics National 18 and 16U National teams and 14U.  We currently have 9 teams based out of Delaware County, PA but have players from 5 different states.  I want our players to have the greatest opportunity possible to develop. It is something I can control and when you work with kids, they see our work ethic, so I need to lead by example. We practice hard and really push, trying to maintain a game speed and intensity. Over my years of coaching from football, basketball, baseball and softball, I have learned the value of culture and balance. Unfortunately there are not always people looking out for the kids and players; they are more about themselves.  The experience at practice, games and lessons needs to be safe and players need to know failing and learning is ok and will help them grow to the next level.   I know people say it but my team truly loves each other. They tagged themselves #teamfun. They created a private instagram page to have fun. They play for each other and understand how to fight for each other no matter how tall the task. They know and I say we are grinders, you don’t walk on the field and win a game!

What’s your area of expertise?

Catching and Hitting. I have spent hours on hours listening to great instructors! I believe there are great aspects of many coaches and instructors and it is my responsibility to learn from them. The more I am willing to learn the greater the opportunity is for my students and players. I try to approach coaching/being an instructor with an open mind and a growth mindset. I have been lucky to learn from some great coaches and try to pull all the best aspects and continue to build on them!

Playing for Coach Bryan and the mystics was the best experience of my softball career. He has shaped me into the player I am now and had the utmost confidence in me even when I did not believe in myself. We were fortunate to meet Bryan Garrett when we did. He welcomed our daughter Kennedy to be a guest for his Mystics 18U National team at a TNT tournament the summer before her senior HS year.  Bryan has an unequalled network of D1 to D3 coaches and scouts that he has developed over many years as a coach and mentor.  His goal is always to showcase young players and help them to achieve their goals of playing at the college level.  Bryan is also a proficient hitting and catching coach and has furthered the development of many athletes while competing in the Mystics program.  Bryan teaches young athletes how to advocate for themselves with recruitment videos, how to contact potential college coaches and what is needed to set themselves apart from other players.  Traveling from Maine to join the Mystics organization and to work with Bryan was the best decision we have made for our daughter and it resulted in a scholarship for Kennedy to play D1 softball and fulfill a lifelong dream.
